WHAT IS THE SEAM?
The seam is a performance that takes place in the virtual world.
"The SEAM" is the portal to another world. To another reality.
The seam is a way to invent ourselves differently, to experience ourselves differently, to deepen our perception.
This is a collaboration between the composer Jelena Dabic, the pianist Marcelo Gama and the director Christian Striboll.
Musically, folk songs and traditional children's songs from the Danube countries form the basis for Jelena Dabic’s composition: ‘Danube Suite’ for piano.
Danube - a river that connects seven European countries: a suite in 7 chapters.
Each chapter based on a traditional song. Every song from one of the countries through which the Danube flows. Starting with Germany, followed by Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Romania and finally Bulgaria, where the Danube flows into the Black Sea. As a European trade route, the Danube connects and at the same time separates people, nations and ideologies from one another. One Europe also means many Europe. Grown plurality and diversity. Us, in our diversity, is exactly what makes us one. A musical piece comes to life through interpretation.
The composition is made to measure for the pianist Marcelo Gama. In addition to playing the piano, Marcelo Gama is a passionate seamster, which was a catalyst for the work
THE AUDIENCE ABOUT THE STEAM
"This is not a movie. It's a different reality. It goes much further. You dive into a completely different world: there are seamstresses, a man in his cosmos. It's something completely new, never before experienced. If you really want to live, then you just have to come in.
Similar to the man in his cocoon, who can then unfold.
We all live in a cocoon. We have to open the door and step out into the world. Otherwise it just sleeps around us. But as soon as you open this door, whether you have a key or not, then the world around you awakens, the moon is there and the sun is here and everything is in bloom."
"This is not a movie. It's a door. A door into another world. It is not different in that sense, but it is further, it goes on and it has no limits. It has no restrictions. It has all the possibilities of this cosmos. And that's exactly where we want to go. That's exactly where we want to live."
Europa ist kein Flickenteppich, sondern ein musikalisches Kleidungsstück.
